Key Investor Information Document: A short-form "plain language" document to assist retail investors in comparing UCITS products. Introduced in July 2011, as part of the UCITS IV Directive, it was designed to replace the UCITS simplified prospectus. The format, content and wording is highly prescribed by the ESMA (European Securities and Markets Authority). Key components are financial data, a risk/reward indicator and past performance bar charts. By July 2012, KIIDs will be mandatory for all UCITS.
