Product governance: giving investors what they really really want
Insight Q3 2015

The investment management industry is changing. Its role in the economy and wider society is attracting greater focus, adding a completely new dimension to the issues being faced.

One of the major challenges is how to tackle the ‘pensions time-bomb'. As a result, encouraging retail investors to invest in funds is seen as a priority.

Retail investors will only be attracted to invest, however, if they trust the financial system and intermediaries operating within it, and believe the products they are buying are fully suited to their needs. As a result, product governance is now a key element of the European regulatory agenda.
